Arrive by 10:45 am on May 12, 2016. Work will begin at 11 am.
The project will take place at 2780 South 1042 West, South Salt Lake, UT 84119 in Salt Lake County. Park in the Radius Engineering parking lot off of 900 West. Volunteers will gather by the Jordan River Parkway trail to the west of the parking lot for further direction.
Please join South Salt Lake for the Trailside Conservation Day at the annual Get Into The River Festival. Volunteers will be asked to remove garbage from the Jordan River Parkway and river corridor and remove any invasive species by digging or pulling them out and bagging them in provided trash bags. Volunteers may also be asked to spread native grass seed and wildflowers in bare areas or help protect trees to prevent deer and beaver damage by wrapping them with wire fencing. Volunteers will learn why they are cleaning the river, what people have done and are doing to restore the river, and the goals of ecosystem restoration. At the end of the day, volunteers will learn about the Jordan River Parkway, native flora and fauna on the site, and Jordan River-based restoration.
